Water Main Replacement Project in Murdale Shopping Center Area to begin Feb. 18
CARBONDALE - To our neighbors in the Murdale Shopping Center area:
The City of Carbondale is pleased to announce that beginning Wednesday, February 18, 2026 the water main replacement project for your neighborhood is scheduled to begin.
The contractor that will be replacing the line is A&W Plumbing. Work will begin west of N. Emerald Ln., run through the alley behind Murdale Shopping Center, and connect to N. Glenview Dr. near Turley Park. Some services on W. Woodriver Dr. will be affected. The project is expected to take 8 –10 weeks to complete.
During the water main replacement process, there may be some water service interruptions for short periods of time. The City and the contractor will strive to keep these at a minimum. Service outages are normally planned and occur between the hours of 9am and 5pm, but could be at other times due to unforeseen instances. The City does not expect any boil water orders due to our strict water testing policies. If you experience discolored water, please open your cold water faucet until it is clear.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the City’s Utilities Department at (618) 457-3240 ext. 1 during the hours of 7:00am to 4:00pm. If you have an emergency outside normal business hours, please contact the City’s 24-hour Water & Sewer Hotline at (618) 529-1731 ext. 6
We greatly appreciate your patience while we work to improve the water services in your neighborhood.
