For Immediate Release
CARBONDALE – The City of Carbondale Police Department proudly hosted its 24th annual Community Christmas Store this week, providing essential winter items, shoes, and holiday gifts to 194 children, ages 1 through 10, representing 89 families throughout Carbondale. Participating families received new coats, shoes, Christmas presents, books, movies, and stuffed animals!
This year’s event was made possible through the generous contributions of community partners, including the Carbondale Kiwanis, Carbondale Walmart, Murphysboro Walmart, Shoe Carnival, Friends of the Carbondale Public Library, First Responders Children’s Foundation, Wee Care of Jacob, as well as numerous individual donors who continue to uplift local families during the holiday season.
The Carbondale Police Department extends its sincere appreciation to SIU Saluki Athletics and the SIU Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams for their coat drive and enthusiastic support of this effort.
To assist children in need throughout the year, the Carbondale Police Department will continue accepting donations of new coats. Community members wishing to contribute may contact Elizabeth Sears at 618-457-3200 ext. 447.
The mission of the Carbondale Police Department is to work in partnership with our community to preserve life, protect human rights, protect property and improve quality of life by providing police service to all in a fair, sensitive, and professional manner.
