Carbondale Police Press Release - Car-Pedestrian Traffic Crash

CARBONDALE – On October 7, 2025, at 8:16 p.m., City of Carbondale Police Officers responded to the 1200 block of West Main Street for a report of a traffic crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. Officers arrived to find the victim was unresponsive in the roadway with serious injuries resulting from the crash. The victim was taken by ambulance to the emergency room for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. The victim remains hospitalized with serious injuries. During the investigation, officers learned the victim walked across two lanes of traffic on W. Main Street then stopped while still in a lane of traffic. The victim was then struck by the vehicle. The victim was not in a crosswalk when they were struck. The driver, Simeon L. Everage, 24 of Carbondale, was issued a citation for Driving While License Suspended and released pending a court appearance. A Civic Ready Alert was sent out requesting motorists to avoid the area during the investigation. The Illinois State Police assisted with the investigation.
