Carbondale Police Press Release -Traffic Crash

CARBONDALE – On September 8, 2025, at 12:46 p.m., City of Carbondale Police Officers responded to the 500 block of North Illinois Avenue for a report of a traffic crash. Officers learned the driver of a U-Haul truck exited a private parking lot and was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound on North Illinois Avenue. Both drivers were taken to the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the U-Haul truck was issued a citation for Failure to Yield Right of Way and released pending a court appearance.  A Civic Ready Alert was sent out requesting motorists to avoid the area during the investigation. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the Police Department at the numbers listed below.  The investigation remains active and ongoing.
