Carbondale Police Press Release - Aggravated Battery and Unlawful Use of a Weapon

CARBONDALE – On August 18, 2025, at 11:39 p.m., City of Carbondale Police Officers responded to the 600 block of East College Street for a report of an Unlawful Use of a Weapon complaint. Officers learned that a group of approximately 10 to 15 black male and female juveniles damaged property in an area used by several individuals as a homeless encampment. The victim arrived at the camp during the incident and confronted the suspects. The suspects battered the victim, causing non-life-threatening injuries. During the incident, a male suspect wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and a red ski mask displayed an alleged firearm. The suspects fled northeast from the area, last seen in the 800 block of East College Street. The victim was treated at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for injuries received during the incident.
