  • Windy conditions over the western foothills through Thursday
    • The strongest winds are expected around Livingston to Nye on Thursday. Before that, 35 to 55 mph west to southwesterly wind gusts will prevail around Livingston to Big Timber to Harlowton.

  • Snow Friday into Saturday, with light snow lingering Sunday
    • Snow returns to the region Friday. The best chance of accumulating snow is over the mountains and foothills, generally south of Billings.
      • See the "Snow Potential" graphic below for the probability of an inch or more of snow.
    • Snow is expected to be the predominant precipitation type with this system as temperatures drop through the day Friday.
      • There is a low chance the precipitation starts out as a rain/snow mix in river valleys early Friday morning.
    • Patchy blowing snow is possible Friday along and south of I-90 from Livingston, MT through Sheridan, WY.
  • Very cold temperatures expected Saturday through Monday (coldest of the winter so far)
    • High temperatures are forecast to range from single digits below zero to teens above zero, coldest Sunday.
    • Low temperatures are forecast to be the coldest Sunday and Monday morning (single digits to 20 below zero).
      • With this, wind chills are forecast to drop to around -10 to -40F.
      • Make sure children are protected from the cold before heading out to school Monday morning.
    • With temperatures this cold, expect an increase in ice over rivers and streams.
