Cornwall Borough: Drought Warning
Borough of Cornwall Water Department encourages customers to conserve water as Lebanon County has been placed under a Drought Warning declaration.
On June 29, 2026, Pennsylvania’s Commonwealth Drought Task Force escalated Lebanon County’s drought declaration from Drought Watch to its Drought Warning status. This declaration is in response to worsening drought conditions in our region. While some precipitation has occurred in recent months, June was particularly dry, which has slowed groundwater recovery in the area.
In response to this declaration, the Borough of Cornwall is asking its customers, including daycares, school districts, and other educational institutions, to voluntarily reduce water usage by 10 to 15 percent by implementing the conservation measures listed below. This equates to approximately 13 to 20 gallons of water per day.

The Borough continues to do its part in achieving water conservation. It is actively finding and repairing leaking water mains, flushing fire hydrants and sewer mains only when needed, and monitoring water supplies and storage on a daily basis.

No outside use of water (except for newly seeded areas);

Checking for any household leaks, particularly toilets that are running

Reducing the number of toilet flushes per day;

Shortening shower time;

Installing water-saving devices and plumbing fixtures;

Washing hands quickly;

Turning off water while brushing teeth;

Running dishwashers and washing machines with only full loads;

Using paper plates and cups whenever possible;

Any establishments serving food should not serve water unless it is requested.
