AMBER Alert Issued for Missing Boy
The New Bern Police Department is urgently requesting the public’s assistance in locating Austin Ross, a 9‑year‑old white male who was last seen on April 3, 2026, at approximately 12:00 p.m. in the area of 408 East Front Street, New Bern.
Austin was last seen in the company of Amber Vest, a 45‑year‑old white female. Vest was last observed wearing a purple shirt, blue jeans, Hoka shoes, and a dark blue beanie cap. She has a medium build and was last seen with braided hair. At this time, Vest is not known to have access to a vehicle and was seen traveling on foot. Amber is the child’s biological mother but does not have custodial rights at this time. The child was not returned after a visitation period.
The New Bern Police Department urges anyone who has seen Austin or Amber, or who may have information regarding their whereabouts, to contact law enforcement immediately. Even small details may assist in safely locating the child.

- Clothing Last Seen Wearing: Light-blue Spider-Man t-shirt, blue jeans, and black/white Nike shoes. He also had a black and blue Jurassic World backpack.
