New Bern: Permit Issued for Vegetative Debris Burning Along Future Highway 43 Connector

New Bern Fire Rescue has issued a permit for vegetative debris burning along the future Highway 43 connector, between Highway 70 and Highway 17 Business. The permit is good through December 22 and requires the burning site to be 1,500 feet from other structures to minimize risk to residents and businesses. Property owners in this area, particularly those who live in Craeberne Forest and Greenbrier, may notice vegetative debris burning and smoke as part of this project. As a reminder, the Highway 43 connector is an NC Department of Transportation project. For additional questions or information, please call Stanley Harrell at 2 5 2 7 7 5 6 5 3 0. For emergencies, dial 9 1 1.

By City ordinance, no open burning is allowed in city limits without a permit.
