SRPD News Release:
Subject arrested with loaded firearm
On August 9, 2025 at approximately 5:20am, Santa Rosa Police Officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Yulupa Ave. regarding a disturbance and a report of a subject with a gun. Officers immediately responded as dispatchers remained on the phone with the uninvolved reporting party. Dispatchers were able to relay to officers a suspect description, which included him being in possession of a bag and informing them of the suspect’s direction of travel. As officers arrived, they observed the described suspect, later identified as Matthew Wilsey a 35 year-old Clearlake resident, on Yulupa Avenue. Officers briefly closed the roadway as they provided commands to Wilsey in efforts to have him safely surrender. After repeated commands, Wilsey surrendered to officers and was taken into custody without incident. No injuries were reported from the initial incident. Officers recovered a loaded .25 caliber firearm from the area where they first contacted Wilsey. Wilsey was also found to be in possession of cocaine.Wilsey was transported to the Main Adult Detention Facility and booked for the following charges:

25850(c)(6) PC-Unlawfully possess firearm
25850(a) PC-Loaded firearm in public
