SRPD Violent Crimes Investigations Team Makes Arrest for 2024 Bank Robbery

Over the past 15 months, Violent Crimes Investigations (VCI) Detectives have diligently pursued leads to identify the suspect responsible for the March 21, 2024, robbery of Chase Bank on Sonoma Avenue. Through extensive video surveillance review and digital forensic analysis, detectives identified 54-year-old Christopher McKusick as the primary suspect.

On July 3, 2025, at approximately 10:40 a.m., VCI detectives located McKusick in the 600 block of Administration Drive and took him into custody without incident.

Following the arrest, a search was executed at McKusick’s residence in the 200 block of Doyle Park Drive in Santa Rosa, where investigators sought additional evidence related to the robbery.

In addition to the robbery charge, McKusick was found to be on Sonoma County Probation for two unrelated cases. He was ultimately booked into the Sonoma County Jail on the following charges:

 
  • 211 PC – Robbery
  • 1203.2 PC – Violation of Probation (2 counts)

Assistance Needed in Identifying a Bank Robbery Suspect

On Thursday, March 21, 2024, at approximately 1:55 p.m., an unidentified man entered the Chase Bank located at 2300 Sonoma Avenue. He presented a note to a bank teller, demanding cash. No weapon was threatened or brandished. After taking an undisclosed amount of money from the teller, the suspect left the bank. 

Officers with the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) responded to the area, but were unable to locate the suspect. 

The suspect, pictured below, is described as a White male adult, between the ages of 40 and 50, between 5-foot 8-inches and 5-foot 10-inches in height, weighing approximately 200 pounds, and wearing a black jacket, dark pants, and a black “Cali” beanie. 

The SRPD Violent Crimes Investigations Team detectives are continuing to investigate this robbery and would like to speak with anyone who has information potentially related to this incident. A reward of up to $2,500 is being offered by the Sonoma County Alliance Community Engagement and Safety Rewards Fund. The reward is for information leading to the arrest of the suspect or suspects involved in this incident.
