SRPD News Release: SRPD Youth Community Police Experience is Now Accepting Applications for the Summer Program!

SRPD Youth Community Police Experience is Still Accepting Applications for Summer Program!

Do you know a Santa Rosa teen (ages 14–18) curious about what it’s really like behind the scenes at the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD)?

The SRPD Youth Community Police Experience (YCPE) offers an exciting, hands-on opportunity for teens to explore the inner workings of local law enforcement. Over four engaging days, participants dive into real-world police training and operations—learning about patrol procedures, investigations, defensive tactics, emergency vehicle operations, and more. It’s a unique chance to see how officers serve the community and to better understand the local criminal justice system.

YCPE is all about building stronger connections between youth and police by offering a transparent look at the department’s roles, responsibilities, and values. Led by experienced police staff, the program includes interactive discussions, demonstrations, and training drills that highlight the skills and teamwork involved in modern policing.

By the end of the program, participants walk away with a deeper appreciation for public safety work—and are encouraged to share what they’ve learned with peers, family, and the broader community.

Learn more about the YCPE and apply by visiting: https://www.srcity.org/3997/Youth-Community-Police-Experience.

For questions about YCPE or the application process, please email srpdadmin@srcity.org or call 707-543-3550.
