SRPD Narcotics Detectives Make an Arrest For Drug Manufacturing and Child Endangerment.

In February 2025, the Santa Rosa Police Department Narcotics Team began an investigation into a person manufacturing and selling Dimethyltryptamine (DMT) in Santa Rosa and its surrounding areas. DMT is a psychedelic drug that can cause intense hallucinations and has high potential for abuse. SRPD Narcotics detectives identified the involved person as 42-year-old Santa Rosa resident, Kayla Meredith.

On 3/17/25, at approximately 1534 hours, detectives from the SRPD Narcotics Team located Meredith driving her vehicle in the 7900 block of Redwood Dr, Cotati. Detectives utilized a SRPD patrol officer to conduct a traffic stop on Meredith, pursuant to a search warrant, and detain her. Detectives searched Meredith’s vehicle, pursuant to a search warrant, and located suspected DMT.

SRPD Narcotics detectives and patrol officers then responded to the 400 block of Mission Bl, Santa Rosa, and executed the service of a search warrant. Detectives located suspected DMT in various stages in the kitchen, freezer, and rear patio, which constitutes an active clandestine laboratory. Dangerous chemicals, such as Lye, were also found in the kitchen.

Meredith’s 10-year-old daughter lives with her and could easily come in contact with, or accidentally ingest, the chemicals used to make DMT, which could result in great bodily injury or death.

Meredith was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail for the following violations:
  • 273a(a) PC – Felony Child Endangerment.
  • 11379.6 H&S – Drug Manufacturing.
  • 11378 H&S – Possession of a Controlled Substance for Sale.
  • 11366 H&S – Maintain a Dwelling to Manufacture and/or Sell Drugs.
