SRPD News Release: UPDATE #3 - Identity of Whitewood Drive Homicide Victim Confirmed
** CASE UPDATE #3 – VICTIM IDENTITY CONFIRMED **
The identity of Whitewood Drive Homicide Victim Confirmed
At approximately 6:50 pm on January 27, 2025, the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) Communications Center received a 911 call from area residents about an injured adult female on the sidewalk of Whitewood Drive, just north of Hearn Avenue. Officers responded to the scene and located an unresponsive female with at least one gunshot wound to her torso. Officers provided medical aid until emergency medical personnel arrived on the scene. The victim was pronounced deceased shortly thereafter.
On January 28, 2025, at approximately 1:30 pm, Domingo Miguel Lopez, a 38-year-old Santa Rosa resident, was arrested and booked into Sonoma County Jail for 187 PC – Murder. Floriberto Sanchez, a 42-year-old resident of Santa Rosa, was also arrested and booked into Sonoma County Jail for 32 PC – Accessory after the fact.
The Sonoma County Coroner has identified the deceased victim as Marisol Chavez Figueroa, a 30-year-old resident of Santa Rosa.

**CASE UPDATE #2 – HOMICIDE SUSPECT ARRESTED**
SRPD arrest suspect in Whitewood Drive homicide
At approximately 6:50 pm on January 27, 2025, the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) Communications Center received a 911 call from area residents about an injured adult female on the sidewalk of Whitewood Drive, just north of Hearn Avenue. Officers responded to the scene and located an unresponsive female with at least one gunshot wound to her torso. Officers provided medical aid until emergency medical personnel arrived on the scene. The victim was pronounced deceased shortly thereafter.
Detectives with the SRPD Violent Crimes Investigations Team (VCI) responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. They worked throughout the night to identify the suspect and his associated white Toyota Tacoma truck. Detectives located the truck parked on East Robles Avenue and continued their investigation. As the investigation progressed, the detectives were able to determine the suspect and a male friend were staying in a room at a motel in the 3100 block of Santa Rosa Avenue. Early afternoon on January 28, 2025, the friend left the room and walked away from the motel. The friend was detained by SRPD officers. VCI detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect and a search warrant for the motel room and associated vehicle.
At approximately 1:30 pm, SRPD SWAT, Hostage Negotiations Team, and Tactical Support Team members assisted VCI in serving the arrest and search warrants. The suspect peacefully surrendered and was taken into custody. A firearm was recovered from the motel room.
Domingo Miguel Lopez, a 38-year-old Santa Rosa resident, was arrested and booked into Sonoma County Jail for the following charge:
187 PC – Murder
Floriberto Sanchez, a 42-year-old resident of Santa Rosa, was arrested and booked into Sonoma County Jail for the following charge:
32 PC – Accessory after the fact
Detectives with the SRPD Violent Crimes Investigations Team (VCI) are still investigating this incident. Information about the relationship between the suspect and victim, and motive may be released at a later time as the investigation progresses.

Officers responded to the scene and located an unresponsive female with significant injuries. Officers provided medical aid until emergency medical personnel arrived on the scene. The victim was pronounced deceased shortly thereafter.
Detectives with the SRPD Violent Crimes Investigations Team (VCI) are actively investigating this incident. No arrests have been made. Information about the nature of the victim’s injury, motive, and identity of the suspect(s) will be released at a later time as the investigation progresses.
