SRPD raises over $21,000 for Special Olympics!
On September 26, 2024, the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) hosted the inaugural Golf Tournament and Auction to Benefit Special Olympics. The tournament, held at the Windsor Golf Course, drew 32 teams of 4 golfers to the greens for friendly competition, dinner, and auction all to raise money for the Special Olympics of Northern California. SRPD employees Tim Barrett, Cheri Uber, Martha Ott, Kim Hawkins, Barrett Klein, Chris Rossi, and Tanya Wagner devoted months of their own time to planning the event, which included obtaining sponsorships and donations from over a dozen local businesses and organizations. Numerous additional employees donated their time to volunteer at the event assisting with logistics. Their efforts resulted in a net fundraising total of over $21,000 and an incredible time for all who participated in the tournament!
The Special Olympics is a vital organization that provides individuals with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to participate in athletic competitions, fostering inclusion, empowerment, and personal growth. Through sports, Special Olympics participants build confidence, develop new skills, and form lasting bonds, all while breaking down societal barriers. The Santa Rosa Police Department is a proud supporter and dedicated fundraiser for this incredible cause, recognizing the profound impact it has on both athletes and the community.
Thank you to the many community members who supported this fundraising effort by playing, sponsoring, and donating goods and services. We would not have been able to raise these important funds without your partnership.
