Two High School Students Arrested Following Assault and Robbery of Another Student While on Campus

On Friday, June 7, 2024, at approximately 3:05 p.m., the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) was contacted by an administrator at Elsie Allen High School, located at 599 Bellevue Avenue. The administrator advised SRPD Dispatch that at approximately 12:00 p.m. the same day, a student was “jumped” in a bathroom by two other students, one of whom stole the victim’s belt during the assault. The administrator had also received a video of the assault, sent anonymously through the “Stop It” app.

An officer responded to the school to begin an investigation and learned the victim, a 16-year-old male, was transported to an area hospital by his parents to be treated for pain and minor injuries to his face. With assistance from the school administrator, the suspects were identified as two 17-year-old male students at Elsie Allen High School. During the initial investigation, the officer obtained information that the assault may have been gang related.

A detective with the SRPD Gang Crimes Team took over the investigation and obtained search warrants for the suspects respective residences. On Monday, June 10, 2024, search warrants were served at homes in the 100 block of Gio Drive and 100 block of Bellevue Avenue, both in Santa Rosa. Clothing and other indicia commonly associated with criminal street gangs was located in both residences. The suspect residing at the Gio Drive home was present during the service of the search warrant and was arrested without incident at that time. The suspect residing in the Bellevue Avenue home was not present at the time of the search warrant service but was contacted by detectives a short time later when he returned home. He also was arrested without incident.

Both 17-year-old suspects were booked into Juvenile Hall for the following charges:
211 PC – Felony robbery
242 PC – Misdemeanor battery
186.22(a) PC – Felony participation in a criminal street gang
186.22(b)(1) PC – Felony promote/assist criminal street gang (enhancement)

Due to the ages of the victim and suspects, their names or other identifying information will not be released.

Santa Rosa Police Department case number 24-6916.
