Attempted gang related robbery leads to stabbing

On June 7, 2024 at 3:05 pm, Santa Rosa Police Officers were dispatched to the Santa Rosa Transit Mall regarding a physical fight which resulted in one subject being stabbed multiple times.  Santa Rosa PD”s Downtown Enforcement Team was on scene in less than 30 seconds.  Officers immediately applied a tourniquet to the arm of a 15-year-old.  The 15-year-old also suffered at least two stab wounds to the torso.  Medical personnel responded and the 15-year-old was transported to a local area hospital for medical treatment and is expected to survive his injuries. 
 
The Gang Crimes Team responded and took over the investigation.  Detectives learned that a 15-year-old juvenile, a 17-year-old juvenile, and 19-year-old Santa Rosa resident Edgar Garcia Riveros were at the Transit Mall and premeditated the attack on the 24-year-old male victim in order to rob him of his belongings.  When they attacked the victim, the victim defended himself with a four-inch, kitchen style knife he had in his pocket.  During the altercation the 15-year-old suspect was stabbed multiple times. 
 
Officers were able to detain the involved suspects.  Through surveillance video and witness statements, Detectives arrested three suspects in this case:
Edgar Garcia Riveros was booked at the Main Adult Detention Facility for 664/211 PC: Attempted Robbery, 186.22(a)PC: Gang Participant, 186.22(b)(1)PC Gang Enhancement .
The 17-year-old juvenile’s name will not be released because he is a minor.  He was booked at Juvenile Hall for 664/211 PC: Attempted Robbery, 186.22(a)PC: Gang Participant, 186.22(b)(1)PC Gang Enhancement
The 15-year-old juvenile’s name will not be released because he is a minor.  The 15 year old juvenile sustained significant injuries during the event.  He was cited per 664/211 PC: Attempted Robbery, 186.22(a)PC: Gang Participant, 186.22(b)(1)PC Gang Enhancement,  and released to  parent, so as to receive medical care.
