SRPD News Release: Officers Recover Loaded Firearm During Pedestrian Contact

On Saturday, May 25, 2024, at approximately 5:03 pm, SRPD Officers assigned to the Special Enforcement Team (SET) were patrolling Andy’s Unity Park located at 3399 Moorland Avenue in Santa Rosa. The SET Officers located several subjects standing near a parked vehicle on the northwest side of the park. The Officers immediately observed one of the subjects removing a concealed firearm from his waistband and discarding it near the vehicle. The subjects were subsequently detained. A loaded, Poly-80 style handgun with a 33-round extended magazine was recovered. The firearm was loaded with 1, 9mm round in the chamber and 29 additional 9mm rounds in the magazine. The subject who possessed the firearm was a juvenile. Another adult subject, Santa Rosa Resident Eligio Reynoso-Hernandez, was found in possession of a knife which was a violation of the terms of his probation. Both subjects were arrested and booked without incident.

Due to age, the juvenile’s name will not be released. The juvenile was booked into Juvenile Hall on the following felony charges:

PC 25400(A)(2)- Carrying a loaded firearm in a public place.
PC 25850(A)- Carrying a concealed weapon. 
PC 29650 – Minor in possession of ammunition
PC 29610(A)- Minor in possession of a concealed handgun
Outstanding Warrant – Mendocino County

Reynoso-Hernandez was booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility for a violation of his probation terms.
