Traffic Violation Leads to Recovery of Firearm

 

On May 21, 2024, at approximately 11:00 P.M., a Santa Rosa Police Officer was conducting routine patrol in the area of Santa Rosa Avenue / Barham Avenue when he observed a vehicle code violation and conducted an enforcement stop.  The Officer contacted the sole occupant in the vehicle who was identified as 29-year-old Erick Salas-Caldera.  Salas-Caldera consented to a search of the vehicle. During the subsequent search, the Officer located an un-serialized 9mm privately manufactured firearm with a loaded Glock magazine and a threaded barrel in the center console of the vehicle.   

Based on the investigation, Salas-Caldera was arrested and booked into Sonoma County Jail for the following charges: -

25400(a)(1) PC – Concealed Firearm in a Vehicle  

25850(c)(6) PC – Possession of an Unregistered Firearm

30605(A) PC- Possession of an Assault Weapon
