SRPD News Release: Motorcycle/pickup truck collision

On Tuesday April 30th, 2024, at approximately 2:55pm, Santa Rosa Police Officers and Fire Personnel were dispatched to the intersection of Hopper Avenue and Airway Drive for a reported collision between a motorcycle and a pickup truck.

Several witnesses called 911 to report that the pickup truck had collided with the motorcycle and then fled the scene. The motorcyclist was lying in the roadway and was unresponsive.

SRPD Accident Investigators responded to the scene with medical personnel. The motorcyclist appeared to have life-threatening injuries and was immediately transported to a local hospital. Investigators spoke with several witnesses who stated the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Hopper Avenue with a green light. The pickup truck made a left turn in front of the motorcycle from westbound Hopper, trying to turn to southbound Airway. The pickup truck did not stop after the collision and sped away.

Witnesses told investigators that the pickup truck was a Ford F150, possibly grey or silver in color. The investigation is continuing in an effort to locate the driver of the pickup. It will most likely have front end damage.

The motorcyclist victim is being treated at a local hospital and his name will not be released at this time.
