SRPD News Release:

Safely Dispose of Unused Medications at National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

Do you have unused, unwanted, or expired medications in your home? Help keep our community safe by participating in the DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, a nationwide initiative that provides a safe, convenient, and anonymous way to dispose of medications. Proper disposal helps prevent prescription drug misuse, accidental poisoning, theft, and environmental contamination.

📅 Saturday, October 24
⏰ 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
📍 Santa Rosa Police Department, 965 Sonoma Avenue, 95404

Community members are encouraged to clean out their medicine cabinets and bring unused or expired medications to the Santa Rosa Police Department during the event. The collection is free and anonymous. The DEA hosts National Prescription Drug Take Back Day to provide a safe method for disposing of medications and to help reduce the risks associated with keeping unneeded prescription drugs in the home.

Even if medications were prescribed to you, keeping drugs that are no longer needed can create unnecessary risks for family members, visitors, and others who may gain access to them. A few minutes spent cleaning out your medicine cabinet can make a meaningful difference in protecting our community.

We hope you'll join us on October 24 and help spread the word to family, friends, and neighbors.

Thank you for partnering with us to keep Santa Rosa safe.
