Santa Rosa Police Department Investigating Homicide in Northwest Santa Rosa.
On 9/9/2023 at 9:48am, the Santa Rosa Police Department’s Communication Center received a call regarding a possibly deceased person in a residence in the 3500 block of Sweetgum Street. When officers arrived on scene, they located an adult male standing outside the residence. The male was cooperative and immediately detained by officers.
Inside the residence, officers located a deceased male in the living room. The preliminary investigation found that the detained male, a white male in his early 40s, was the suspect in the homicide of the male inside the residence. The victim was an adult white male in his early 70s.
Detectives from the SRPD Violent Crimes Team are leading the investigation to determine what led up to the homicide and what was the motive. Field and Evidence Technicians processed the crime scene. The suspect was arrested and there are no additional outstanding suspects.
