Santa Rosa Police Department Investigates Two Weekend Shooting Incidents 

The Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) is actively investigating two separate shooting incidents that occurred in downtown Santa Rosa this weekend. While no injuries have been reported in either incident, these cases highlight the Department's continued commitment to reducing violent crime through proactive enforcement efforts, the use of innovative public safety technology, and a holistic understanding of the root causes of these crimes.  

September 5 Shooting Investigation 

On September 5, 2026, at approximately 2:13 a.m., SRPD officers responded to the area of 7th Street and Humboldt Street after multiple callers reported hearing an argument followed by a gunshot. Witnesses described the suspected shooter as a Black male adult wearing a light-colored t-shirt.  

Officers arrived within minutes and located a single shell casing on Humboldt Street. Officers immediately searched the area but were unable to locate any victims or suspects. 

During the investigation, officers canvassed the neighborhood for witnesses and surveillance footage.

September 7 Shooting Investigation 

On September 7, 2026, at approximately 1:32 a.m., officers responded to reports of possible gunfire in front of El Infierno Cantina, located at 120 Fifth Street. 

Responding officers learned from witnesses that two male suspects had fled the area in an older-model dark blue sedan after one of the occupants fired multiple rounds into the ground. Witnesses described both suspects as Hispanic male adults wearing yellow sweatshirts, blue jeans, boots, and white cowboy hats. 

Officers quickly gathered witness statements and located multiple shell casings along Wilson Street near the bar. Officers conducted an extensive search of the area but were unable to locate the suspects or vehicle.

Department Focus on Violent Crime Reduction 

These incidents underscore SRPD's ongoing focus on reducing gun violence and improving community safety through intelligence-led policing, rapid response, and strategic use of technology. Officers continue to proactively patrol areas where violent crime concerns have been identified, while investigators utilize automated license plate reader systems, forensic evidence, crime analysis, and other investigative technologies to identify offenders and disrupt violent criminal activity. 

Preventing gun violence remains a top department priority. Through proactive enforcement efforts, community partnerships, and innovative public safety tools, SRPD remains committed to holding offenders accountable and keeping firearms-related violence out of our neighborhoods. 

The Police Department continues to work closely with the Santa Rosa Violence Prevention Partnership with a focus on intervention and prevention strategies.

A reward of up to $2,500 is being offered by the Business Alliance of Sonoma County Community Engagement and Safety Rewards Fund for each of these cases. The reward is for information leading to the identification and arrest of the suspects involved in these shootings.
