SRPD News Release: Learn More About SRPD's Flock Camera Program

Learn More About SRPD's Flock Camera Program

Join the Santa Rosa Police Department on September 17 for a community discussion about the use of Flock Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) cameras.

When: Thursday, September 17, 6:00 p.m.

Where: Utility Field Office, 35 Stony Point Road

In our previous announcement, we invited community members to save the date for this important conversation. As the meeting approaches, we'd like to share more information about how Flock cameras are used and why your participation is important.

Flock cameras help investigators identify suspect vehicles and generate leads in cases involving:

  • Homicides
  • Kidnappings
  • Violent crimes
  • Organized retail theft
  • Stolen vehicles
  • Hit-and-run collisions

At the meeting, SRPD personnel will explain:

  • How the system works
  • Privacy and security protections
  • Data retention policies
  • Audit and oversight requirements
  • Data-sharing restrictions
  • How the technology supports criminal investigations while protecting individual privacy rights

Chief John Cregan wants to hear directly from community members and welcomes questions, concerns, and feedback regarding the program.

Your voice is an important part of this discussion, and we hope you'll join us.

Spanish translators will be in attendance. Requests for additional language translation, disability-related accommodations, or other assistance may be directed to khawkins@srcity.org or 707-543-3556.

Media inquiries can be directed to Sgt. Patricia Seffens, Public Information Officer, at 707-543-3634 or pseffens@srcity.org
