JUVENILES INVOLVED IN MAJOR COLLISION
On August 1st, 2023, at approximately 4:35am, Santa Rosa Police Officers were dispatched to the area of 729 King Street for a major collision. SRPD Officers and Fire and Medical Personnel responded to the scene. They located a severely damaged black Tesla. The Tesla appeared to have collided with a utility pole at that location.
Three juveniles were contacted at the collision scene. Miraculously, all had only minor injuries and were out of the Tesla and walking. After speaking with the juveniles, it appears a thirteen- year-old female had been driving her parents’ Tesla without permission. Based on the juveniles’ statements, the driver lost control on King Street when she hit a dip in the road, causing her to lose even more control. The vehicle hit three parked vehicles, a utility pole, and a street sign.
The juveniles’ parents were all notified. Officers are still determining if alcohol was involved in the collision or if there were any other factors or persons involved. PG&E responded to the area to inspect the utility pole and as of this press release, there was no indication that residents in the area lost power.
Anyone with information regarding this collision is encouraged to contact Officer Ashley Odetto.
