Pursuit of stolen vehicle that was involved in a burglary of a marijuana dispensary ends with the arrest of 5 subjects.

On 7/25/23, at approximately 10:10 PM, a Santa Rosa Police Officer was in the area of Maple Avenue and South E Street, when he saw a white Toyota Camry driving in front of him. The officer recognized the license plate as being one of a stolen vehicle. The stolen vehicle was also involved in a marijuana dispensary burglary that occurred in the city of Cotati.

The officer followed the vehicle for a period of time until he had sufficient units to conduct a traffic stop. The traffic stop was initiated on Dutton Avenue at Sebastopol Road. The vehicle initially slowed and pulled to the curb, as if it was stopping. However, instead of stopping, the vehicle fled north on Dutton Avenue at a high rate of speed.

The officers pursued the vehicle north on Dutton Avenue. The stolen vehicle was involved in a collision at the intersection of North Dutton Avenue and Guerneville Road. As the stolen vehicle came to a stop, five subjects exited the vehicle and fled in different directions.

The initial officer caught the driver a short distance away from the vehicle. Additional SRPD Officers, with the assistance of several Deputies from the Sheriff’s Officer, were able to locate and apprehend the other four subjects that fled the vehicle.

Two of the subjects that fled the vehicle were adults, and the remaining were juveniles.

The citizens in the vehicle the stolen vehicle collided with were un-injured.

The driver was a 16-year-old female from Santa Rosa. She was booked at the Los Gulicos Juvenile Justice Center for the following charges:

2800.2(A) VC – Evade peace officer (felony)

496(a) PC – Possession of stolen property (felony)

20002(b) VC – Hit and run (misdemeanor)

The two other juveniles were a 14-year-old male from Santa Rosa, and a 14-year-old female from Santa Rosa. They were booked at the Los Gulicos Juvenile Justice Center for:
 

The male juvenile was booked for: 148(a)(1) PC – resisting arrest (misdemeanor)

The female juvenile was booked for: 148(a)(1)PC – resisting arrest (misdemeanor) and 2 outstanding warrants

The adults that were arrested were 18-year-old Santa Rosa resident Natalia Gutierrez-Mena and 18-year-old Santa Rosa resident David Barrios. Gutierrez-Mena and Barrios were booked at the Main Adult Detention Facility for the following charge:

148(a)(1) PC – resisting arrest (misdemeanor)

There was evidence in the vehicle related to the Cotati marijuana burglary. The Cotati Police Department was contacted, and they responded to the scene to continue their investigation.
