Burglary of Cannabis Dispensary business
On Sunday July 24th, 2023 at 3:36 a.m., Officers from the Santa Rosa Police Department responded to a burglary alarm call at a local Cannabis Dispensary business in Northwest Santa Rosa. Upon arrival, officers learned unknown suspects had rammed the entrance of the business with a vehicle. A second interior door prevented the suspects from gaining ultimate entry. Several suspects dressed in dark clothing and ski masks were seen leaving in vehicles with no license plates just prior to police arrival.
Moments later, at approximately 3:43 a.m., Officers received a separate burglary alarm call to another Cannabis Dispensary business in town south of this location. An SRPD Sergeant was on scene within several seconds. Two male suspects were observed exiting the business with stolen merchandise. Upon seeing the Sergeant, the suspects ran and entered into separate Infinity and Kia sedans, before fleeing the area. The Kia had a smashed rear window, damage to the bumper, and no license plate.
A pursuit ensued with both vehicles with speeds reaching over 100 MPH onto southbound highway 101. Allied agencies, including the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department, Petaluma Police Department, and California Highway Patrol assisted with responding into the area. Officers deployed spike strips near Highway 101 and the South Petaluma Blvd exit. This ultimately brought the Kia sedan to a stop near this location. The suspect driver subsequently ran from the vehicle. After an extensive search, the suspect driver was not located. The vehicle was determined to have recently been stolen out of the city of Oakland.
Santa Rosa Police Officers continued to pursue the Infinity sedan southbound until the Marin County line where they turned the pursuit over to the California Highway Patrol.
Officers are currently following up on leads in the case to identify all suspects in both burglaries. It is believed that both cases are related. Anyone with information regarding the burglaries are encouraged to contact the Santa Rosa Police Department at 707-543-3600.
