Tactical Team Training Taking Place in Santa Rosa Today

The Santa Rosa Police Department is conducting tactical team training today at locations in Santa Rosa, including Slater Middle School.

Training activities at Slater Middle School will take place during the morning hours. No classes or school activities are being held at Slater Middle School during the training. Signs will be posted around the training area clearly indicating that law enforcement personnel are participating in a scheduled training exercise.

Community members may see an increased law enforcement presence, tactical vehicles, officers wearing specialized equipment, and other activity associated with the exercise. There is no threat to the public and no active emergency associated with this training.

Members of the public are asked to avoid the immediate training areas when possible. Limiting unnecessary traffic and pedestrian activity will help ensure the exercise can be conducted safely and without interruption.

Tactical training provides officers with the opportunity to practice coordinated responses to complex and critical incidents in realistic environments. These exercises strengthen communication, decision-making, de-escalation, teamwork, and the ability to respond effectively during high-risk incidents.

Regular training is an important part of maintaining officer readiness and ensuring that personnel are prepared to respond safely, effectively, and professionally when critical incidents occur. Conducting these exercises in realistic settings also allows teams to identify opportunities for improvement before those skills are needed during an actual emergency.
