SRPD News Release: Fourth of July Holiday Weekend Information
Fourth of July Holiday Weekend Information
As we head into the Fourth of July weekend, the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) is asking everyone to celebrate safely and responsibly. Driving under the influence is never acceptable; please plan for a sober ride if you’re drinking or using an intoxicating substance. All fireworks are dangerous and illegal in Sonoma County, and we strongly encourage you to attend professional fireworks shows instead.
SRPD will have additional staffing throughout the weekend to address fireworks complaints, disruptive celebrations, and DUI enforcement. While 911 should be used for emergencies only, you can report illegal fireworks by calling our non-emergency line at 707-528-5222. Please keep in mind that in many cases, those using illegal fireworks may leave before officers arrive; however, we will have roving patrols actively working to reduce violations across the city. Violations of the fireworks ban may result in citations, fines, or arrest.
The sanctioned fireworks show and celebration here in Santa Rosa, “Red, White, and Pillow Fights,” is being held at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds on Saturday, July 4th. Expect traffic congestion and pedestrians in the area between 5:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.
We also encourage you to read a joint safety message from Fire Chief Scott Westrope and Police Chief John Cregan here.
Let’s work together to keep Santa Rosa safe this holiday weekend.
