SRPD News Release:

Traffic stop leads to possession of illegal firearm arrest.

On 6/23/23, at 8:15 am, SRPD conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for various mechanical violations.  The vehicle driver pulled into the Trader Joe’s parking lot on Santa Rosa Av.  SRPD Officers contacted 24 year old Santa Rosa resident Miguel Joseph Ramirez.  Ramirez had multiple open containers of suspected marijuana, and loose leaf cannabis on the center console.  SRPD Officers asked Ramirez to step out of the vehicle so they could conduct a probable cause search.  Ramirez immediately told Officers he was in possession of a handgun inside his glove box.  SRPD Officer’s searched the vehicle to secure the firearm.  Officers then secured a two year old child who was in the car.  The child was picked up by the mother. 

Ramirez was arrested for multiple firearms related offenses, including possession of a loaded and unregistered firearm (ghost gun), possession of a concealed firearm in a vehicle, and child endangerment due to being inappropriately buckled in and in proximity to marijuana and firearms.
