Santa Rosa Man Arrested for Possession of a Firearm

On Sunday June 11th, 2023, at about 00:50 am, a Santa Rosa Police Officer was conducting proactive patrols in the downtown area of Santa Rosa. The officer observed a vehicle illegally parked on the east side of Old Courthouse Square. The officer contacted the occupants and saw evidence of narcotics and narcotics use. The officer had the occupants exit the vehicle and searched the vehicle for further contraband. During the search of the vehicle, the officer located an unloaded semi-automatic handgun hidden inside of a compartment in the vehicle. 

The driver and owner of the vehicle was identified as 32-year-old Santa Rosa resident Xaiyne Carlton. Carlton was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail for possession of a concealed firearm inside of a vehicle (Penal Code 25400(A)(1)). A passenger in the vehicle was identified as 20-year-old Guerneville resident Royce Brownfield. Brownfield was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail for possession of a controlled substance (Health and Safety Code 11350(A)).
