SRPD News Release:
Armed Suspect Arrested for Several Narcotics and Weapons Violations
In April 2023, detectives from the SRPD Narcotics Team began an investigation into a Drug Trafficking Organization (DTO). During the course of this investigation, detectives identified 29 year old Cotati resident, Roy Altamirano-Arenas, as a person involved in distributing narcotics and controlled substances in Santa Rosa and the surrounding cities in Sonoma County.
On 5/03/23, at approximately 1043 hours, SRPD Narcotics detectives executed the service of a search warrant and detained Altamirano-Arenas while he was seated in his vehicle in a parking lot in the 200 block of Golf Course Dr, Rohnert Park. A search of his person, pursuant to the search warrant, revealed he was armed with a loaded .38 caliber derringer handgun concealed in his pants pocket. A search of his vehicle yielded a loaded .38 caliber revolver, approximately 800 counterfeit pills that are believed to be fentanyl pills, approximately 3 ounces of suspected methamphetamine, approximately 1 ounce of suspected cocaine, digital scales, and hundreds of clean plastic baggies that matched the baggies containing all of the suspected narcotics and controlled substances. The narcotics and controlled substances appeared to be packaged for sales.
Detectives then executed the service of the search warrant at Altamirano-Arenas' residence, which was located in the 200 block of E. Cotati Av in Cotati. Nothing of note was located at his residence. Detectives then executed the service of the search warrant at a storage container located in the 4100 block of Santa Rosa Av in Santa Rosa. Nothing of note was located at the storage container.
Altamirano-Arenas was ultimately booked into the Sonoma County Jail for the following violations:
- 11378 H&S - Possession of a controlled substance for sale.
- 11379 H&S - Transportation of a controlled substance for sale.
- 11351 H&S - Possession of an illegal narcotic for sale.
- 11352 H&S - Transportation of an illegal narcotic for sale.
- 11370.1(a) H&S - Possession of a firearm while dealing drugs.
- 25850(a) PC - Possession of a loaded firearm in public.
