Parolee arrested with loaded handgun
On Friday, February 27, 2026, at approximately 11:55 PM, a Santa Rosa Police Officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for driving with no headlights during darkness. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Charlie Mazariegos, a 23-year-old resident of Santa Rosa. Mazariegos was on CDCR Parole for a prior conviction of 187 PC from Marin County.Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and did not locate any contraband. Officers then conducted a search of his residence pursuant to his parole terms. During the search, officers located a loaded Glock 36 .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun in his bedroom.
Mazariegos was prohibited from owning or possessing firearms or ammunition because of his felony conviction.
Mazariegos was arrested and booked into Sonoma County Jail for the following charges:
29800(a) PC-Felon in possession of a firearm
30305(a)(1) PC-Felon in possession of ammunition
3000.08 PC- Parole Violation
