SRPD Makes 8 DUI Arrests Over Super Bowl Weekend - Two Significant Cases Highlight Ongoing Traffic-Safety Efforts
This past weekend, officers with the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) made eight DUI arrests, including three significant incidents that underscore the ongoing dangers impaired drivers pose to our community.
On February 8, 2026, at approximately 7:10 p.m., officers arrived at a head‑on collision on Fountaingrove Parkway near Stagecoach Road. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the collision. The 64-year-old female driver and resident of Santa Rosa was found to have been driving while intoxicated and was subsequently booked into jail. SRPD case #26-1403.
Later the same evening, at approximately 10:45 p.m., officers responded to a vehicle collision into a building after a driver traveled through the intersection of Summerfield Road and Montgomery Drive, crashing into a retail establishment’s wooden support post in the 4300 block of Montgomery Drive. The 34-year-old male driver and resident of Sebastopol was determined to have been driving with a blood alcohol content of more than twice the legal limit of 0.08%. He was arrested for DUI and booked into jail. SRPD case #26-1408.
These arrests reflect SRPD’s ongoing commitment to proactive traffic enforcement, much of which is made possible thanks to state grant funding, including support from the California Office of Traffic Safety and the California Cannabis Tax Fund DUI Program. These grants enable increased DUI patrols, checkpoints, distracted‑driving operations, and advanced officer training, directly contributing to safer roadways.
As a result of these efforts, Santa Rosa saw a 14% decrease in DUI collisions, dropping from 206 in 2024 to 178 in 2025. This decline shows the impact of targeted enforcement, data‑driven strategies, and specialized operations.
SRPD’s work has also earned statewide recognition. At the 2025 MADD Awards Ceremony, six SRPD officers were honored for exceptional DUI enforcement efforts, including multiple officers achieving over 100 DUI arrests in a single year. SRPD was previously named MADD’s 2024 Outstanding Agency of the Year for traffic‑safety accomplishments.
A top organizational priority of Chief John Cregan is reducing traffic fatalities through grant‑funded special operations, data‑driven deployment, and innovative enforcement techniques. SRPD remains committed to making Santa Rosa’s roads safer and holding impaired drivers accountable.
