SRPD News Release: Missing Person Monday Campaign - Update and Recap
Missing Person Monday Campaign - Update and Recap
In January of 2024, the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) launched a social media campaign to highlight missing adult cold cases. For six weeks, 30 cases were highlighted, with the oldest being from 1984 and the most recent being reported just before the start of the program. Almost immediately, our agency was able to locate one individual and by the end of the first campaign, we located 5 missing adults, one who had been missing since 2005. We started our second campaign in August of 2024. By the end of that campaign, an additional 3 missing adult cold cases were resolved.
The first two campaigns were so successful that we launched a third Missing Person Monday campaign in early August of 2025. Each week for 5 weeks, we highlighted a total of 25 missing adult cold cases with the hope of locating the missing adults or generating new leads in their cases. With your help, we were able to resolve 5 of these cold cases. A total of 13 cold cases have been resolved between the first 3 campaigns. Last month, we launched our fourth Missing Person Monday campaign with the hope that with your help, we can resolve more cases.
We are happy to report that with your help, one of the cold cases in this campaign have been resolved. Harvey Thompson were both contacted safe and sound in different California cities, thanks largely in part to our community sharing the social media posts from this campaign. This brings the total to 14 missing adult cold cases resolved since the first campaign.
Our work is not done; we have many more cases to resolve. Please review and share the attached photos of the remaining unresolved cases.
