Male armed with handgun arrested by SRPD
On Friday, February 6, 2026, at approximately 1:36 p.m., SRPD officers were dispatched to a call of a disturbance with a male of Middle Eastern dissent, who was kicking the back door of a business in the 1000 block of Hooper Ave. The male was described as wearing a black shirt and black jeans. One officer arrived on scene and contacted the male. The male turned and faced the officer. He then pulled a black, loaded, semi-automatic handgun out from where he had been concealing it between his arm and his torso. The officer immediately gave commands to the male to put the gun down and the male complied. Another officer arrived on scene shortly after and the male was handcuffed. The male was identified as 30-year-old, Santa Rosa resident, Nathan Lal. During the investigation it was discovered that he was prohibited from weapons possession from an unrelated case that occurred in Sonoma County.During a subsequent search of his nearby vehicle, usable quantities of suspected Methamphetamine and Cocaine were located.
Lal was booked at the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility on the following felony charges:
25400(a)(2) PC: Possession of a concealed firearm on person.
25850(a) PC: Carrying a loaded firearm in a public place.
29800(a)(1) PC: Possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
30305(a)(1) PC: Prohibited person in possession of ammunition.
11370.1(a) HS: Possession of controlled while armed with a loaded firearm
11377(a) HS: Possession of controlled substance, Methamphetamine.
11350(a) HS: Possession of a controlled substance, Cocaine.
