SRPD News Release: Double shootings in Santa Rosa

Double shootings in Santa Rosa

On January 17, 2026, the Santa Rosa Police Department responded to two separate and unrelated calls for service involving reported shootings. The first incident involved a call for a “subject with a gun,” in the 2800 block of Apple Valley Lane at approximately 7:30pm.

Officers responded to the area and were unable to locate the reported subject at the time. Approximately an hour later, a victim called SRPD dispatch to report the subject with the gun from Apple Valley, was now in front of his residence near the 800 block of Aston Ave. Officers immediately responded and were able to locate the suspect vehicle, which contained five occupants.
The victim positively identified the driver of the vehicle as the same suspect who had possessed a firearm earlier and discharged it near the victim, while the victim was on Apple Valley Lane. Officers were able to locate a spent firearm casing on Apple Valley Lane. The suspect, Adrian Hernandez-Camacho, a 29-year-old Santa Rosa resident, was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail on the following charges:

417(a) PC- Exhibiting a deadly weapon
11350(a) HS- Possession of a controlled substance

This is an ongoing investigation. Santa Rosa Police Department case number 26-569.

Later in the evening, at approximately 8:30pm, SRPD dispatch received numerous calls reporting gunshots in the 3000 block of Sebastopol Rd. Officers responded and located three spent firearm shell casings in the roadway.
Witness statements from the area describe a coordinated attempt by suspects in four passenger vehicles to box in a small transport van. Then several occupants exited their vehicles and attempted to force entry through the van’s front passenger door. The driver of the transport van was able to maneuver away and flee the scene. As the van escaped, one suspect fired three rounds. The suspects then returned to their respective vehicles and fled the area.

Currently, no victims of this incident have come forward. This incident marks the fourth confirmed shooting in the city within the first 17 days of 2026. These flagrant and violent incidents are concerning and will be treated with the utmost importance.
The Santa Rosa Police Department strives to reduce violence within the community. The SRPD Special Enforcement Team (SET) and Gang Violence Detective unit were developed to address the influx of illegal firearm possessions and the consistent rise in gun and gang violence in the City of Santa Rosa.

In 2025, SRPD officers seized 321 illegal firearms, 107 of which were privately manufactured weapons, commonly referred to as, “ghost guns.” In 2024 alone, SET (a small team of four officers and a sergeant) conducted 1,373 field events, made 111 arrests, and seized 41 firearms, including six “ghost guns.” Their work is a critical part of SRPD’s ongoing efforts to protect Santa Rosa.
The investigation into the violent attempted carjacking and shooting from last night is active. SRPD urges anyone with information or who may have captured video footage of the vehicles and participants to contact the SRPD non-emergency line at 707-528-5222.
Santa Rosa Police Department case number 26-565.

Santa Rosa Police Department prioritizes a collaborative approach with the community to reduce violence and secure convictions for violent offenders, keeping Santa Rosa a safe place to live, work and play.
