SRPD News Release: Cider, Cookies, & Community!
Cider, Cookies, & Community!
Over the past week, SRPD officers from both weekday and weekend shifts had the privilege of visiting Cannon Meiers, whose incredible commitment to service and philanthropy continues to inspire us all. Since he was 7 years old, Cannon has been spreading holiday cheer by serving delicious hot cider and homemade cookies, all to raise funds for the Sonoma County Secret Santa Program. Cannon has raised an astounding $84,170 over 11 years for the Sonoma County Secret Santa program, and he’s aiming for a bold $40,000 goal in 2025!
During one of our visits, Chief Cregan and members of the SRPD Command Staff stopped by to present Cannon with a special commendation and a Chief’s Challenge Coin, honoring his extraordinary efforts to bring joy to local families.
Last year, Cannon’s father, Aivars, of the Santa Rosa Fire Department (SRFD), rallied more than 150 first responders, firefighters, law enforcement professionals, elected officials, and community members to visit the cider and cookie stand. Their enthusiasm and friendly competition amplified Cannon’s mission and elevated awareness of the cause he champions.
Needless to say, we were thrilled to run into Sheriff Eddie Engram and members of the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office yesterday, who brought Santa along to make the day even more magical. Also joining in on the fun were some of our friends from SRFD. Thank you for joining in the fun and supporting Cannon’s mission!
📅 Want to support Cannon in person? Visit his Hot Apple Cider & Cookie Stand on Dec. 12–14 from 11 AM to 6 PM at 1140 Spencer Avenue, Santa Rosa.
