SRPD Gang Crimes Team makes an arrest following firearms manufacturing investigation

On November 18, 2025, at approximately 4:05 p.m., detectives with the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) Gang Crimes Team (GCT) served a search warrant at an apartment located in the 6900 block of Commerce Boulevard in Rohnert Park following an investigation into a suspected illegal firearms manufacturing operation. GCT detectives detained the suspect, Mario Reynosa, the 18-year-old resident of the apartment, when he answered the front door.  

During the service of the search warrant, detectives located a 3D printer, three 3D-printed pistol frames, two 3D-printed AR-15 lower receivers, various firearms parts, and 9mm ammunition. 

Reynoso was arrested and booked into Sonoma County Jail for the following offenses: 

29010(b) PC – Failure to provide firearms records to ATF 

29820(b) PC – Unlawful firearms possession 

The SRPD GCT was reinstated in 2023 following a long hiatus due to staffing shortages. GCT is a team of four plainclothes detectives and one sergeant dedicated to addressing gang-related incidents in our community through four key principles; prevention, intervention, education, and enforcement. In 2024, the SRPD GCT seized four 3D printers believed to be used to make privately manufactured firearms, commonly known as “ghost guns.” These guns are especially concerning because they typically lack a serial number and are often unregistered, making them untraceable by law enforcement, hindering investigations into crimes involving firearms. They also allow for prohibited persons to obtain firearms by circumventing the necessary background checks.
