Smoke Visibility
The Pueblo of Acoma Public Safety Department would like to inform all community members that the smoke and haze visible in the sky today is the result of prescribed burns taking place in Arizona.
These burns are planned and monitored by federal and state agencies to reduce wildfire risk in those areas. While the smoke may drift into our region, there is no fire threat to the Pueblo of Acoma or surrounding communities.
Residents with respiratory sensitivities are encouraged to limit prolonged outdoor activity until conditions clear.
