USDOT selects Contour Airlines as EAS provider, with service to Chicago and Dallas-Fort Worth

(Kirksville, MO) - The City of Kirksville wishes to inform residents that the U.S. Department of Transportation has selected Contour Airlines’ two-destination proposal as the community’s Essential Air Service provider.

This will see 12 nonstop flights per week from Kirksville Regional Airport, with seven to Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and five to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). The service begins on August 1, 2026.

“With access to major travel hubs of Chicago and Dallas-Fort Worth, residents of our community and region have an easy option to travel domestically and internationally,” said Kirksville Regional Airport Director Jeff Lafountain. “This additional service creates new opportunities for tourism and economic development for northeast Missouri.”

It is an exciting summer at Kirksville Regional Airport, as the new terminal opens soon and this new air service begins. With a larger, improved building for travelers and a new destination, consider Kirksville the starting point for your next getaway.
