(Kirksville, MO) - Mayor Zac Burden signed a proclamation recognizing National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week in Kirksville from April 12 to 18, 2026.
Dispatchers with the Adair County Emergency Communications Center are the first and most critical contact our citizens have with emergency services, offering compassion, understanding, and professionalism during difficult situations.
When an emergency occurs, the prompt response of police, fire, and emergency medical services is critical to protecting life and preserving property. The speed of that response and the safety of emergency personnel depend on the quality and accuracy of information obtained by dispatchers.

Public safety telecommunicators of the Adair County Emergency Communications Center have contributed substantially to the apprehension of criminals, suppression of fires, treatment of patients, and protection of property. In 2025, the Adair County Emergency Communications Center handled more than 53,400 calls.
Please join the City of Kirksville in recognizing and thanking the dispatchers who serve our community.
