KPD seeks information for reports of shots being fired


(Kirksville, MO) - The Kirksville Police Department is seeking assistance from the public in gathering information regarding reports of shots being fired.

At approximately 10:05 pm on Thursday, February 5, 2026, Kirksville Police received a call reporting possible shots fired near the 100 block of East Mary Street. Kirksville Police, the Adair County Sheriff’s Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol and Truman State University Police personnel responded to the area to try to locate the source. During the next hour and 45 minutes, police received more calls of shots fired, and heard shots themselves along the west part of town, from Missouri Highway 6 west to Rainbow Basin Trail.

Police were unable to locate the source of the shots. KPD has received no reports of people, buildings, or vehicles being struck by any of the reported shots.
