Kirksville Fire Department awards commendations for exemplary service to the community
(Kirksville, MO) - Several members of the Kirksville Fire Department received commendations during Monday’s City Council Meeting for their exemplary service to the community.
Firefighters Marshall Cook and Nathan Weimer received the Medal of Valor, which is awarded for delivering assistance to a person in need with a severe threat to their own safety. They received this award for a water rescue during a 2023 flooding incident.

Cpt. Silas Springer, Lt. Tyler Davis and Lt. Eric Reardon received the Lifesaving Award for their rescue from a structure fire in 2024.

Lt. Tyler Davis received one for his actions during the 2023 flooding incident. Firefighters Derek Johnson and Jared Gordon received one for their actions assisting law enforcement during an incident at the Adair County Detention Center last May. KFD Administrative Assistant Teresa Attebery received the award for her work running the Adopt-A-Child program each year. This past year marked the 40th year of that program, which has ensured Christmas gifts for more than 13,000 Adair County children.

Cpt. Silas Springer, Lt. Aaron Pippin and Firefighters Gavin Robertson, Landon Kellison and Jared Gordon received the award for their work in two different deliveries.
