Sandy City’s Bulk Waste Program is Changing!Sandy City’ Bulk Waste program has recently faced both budgetary and environmental challenges but we knew it was an important program to residents. The Council tasked City staff to create a solution. After significant research, collaboration with experts, and community feedback, the Council was presented with a new ordinance, which they unanimously passed on Feb. 1, 2022. This ordinance addresses the issues but maintains the structure of the program you have valued over the years. So, What Are The Changes? The amendments include new practices residents will need to be aware of come Spring Bulk Waste pick up, including updates to when, how, and where bulk waste is placed, along with new enforcement practices. Pile Size LimitThere will be a pile size limit of 20’ long by 6’ wide by 4’ tall. Residents CANNOT place bulk waste curbside any sooner than 72 hours prior to their scheduled collection date. And, like always, hauling bulk waste to another location is considered illegal dumping and residents are encouraged to contact the Police Department at (801) 799-3000 with the license plate number of the violator. Pile PlacementIt is critical that debris and contaminants stay out of our storm water system, so to protect our storm water, you must follow these guidelines for placement of your pile: Items Accepted:These are the ONLY items accepted: Items not listed WILL NOT be picked up!Learn more at sandy.utah.gov/bulkwaste or by calling Sandy Public Works at (801) 568-2999. |
