Remember to Vote

Sandy City Hall will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5, as an in-person voting location for the 2024 General Election.

  • Valid Identification is required for in-person voting.
  • If you prefer to vote by mail, you can drop off your completed ballot at the Vote Center during polling hours—no need to wait in line.

Light Up the Cairns

Join Us for Light Up the Cairns and the Holiday Sandy Shop & Stroll on Friday, December 6 from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m

Bring family and friends to enjoy the annual lighting ceremony. Santa Claus will arrive at 5 p.m. as City Hall lights up in festive colors, setting the perfect winter scene! Santa will be available for photos, and local choirs will fill the air with holiday music. And new this year– the first annual Holiday Sandy Shop & Stroll. Explore local business, artisan, and craftsman booths selling unique gifts for the holidays. Warm up with free hot chocolate, join the scavenger hunt, or grab dinner from the food trucks. Don’t miss this joyful event—it’s a perfect way to kick off the holidays right here in our Sandy community!

Turkey Trot 5k

Join us on November 9, 2024, for a 5K starting at 10 a.m. from the Lone Peak Park Gazebo (10140 S 700 E). The course winds through nearby neighborhoods, past Dewey Bluth Park, and finishes back at Lone Peak Park. Packet pickup is on November 8 at 440 E 8680 S from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The registration fee includes a race t-shirt, available on a first-come, first-served basis. All ages and abilities are welcome—walk, jog, or run!

New UDOT Canyons Sticker Program

The UDOT Cottonwood Canyons Sticker Program is a free, voluntary winter safety initiative that began in October and will be effective until  February 28, 2025. The program provides vehicle tire inspections to improve safety and reduce traffic in Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons. If your vehicle meets the traction requirements, you’ll receive a sticker indicating it’s winter-ready when the Traction Law is in effect. Although not required, this sticker helps ensure smoother travel. For public transit options to the canyons, visit the UTA website. Sign-ups begin October 17.

Auditions for 'Emma'

Emma by Jane Austen is a classic novel set in the early 19th century in the English village of Highbury. The onstage adaptation revolves around the life of Emma Woodhouse, a precocious young woman who fancies herself a matchmaker and unwittingly creates romantic misadventures. 

When: November 13-14, 7-9 p.m.

Fall Leaf Pickup

WM will collect bagged leaves placed on the parkstrip or non-paved area next to your home.

  • South of 9400 South: Place leaves out by 7 a.m., Monday, Nov 18
  • North of 9400 South: Place leaves out by 7 a.m., Monday, Dec 2

Please use sealed plastic bags to prevent leaves from blowing away. Bags may be picked up anytime during the specified week. Note: This service is only for Sandy City residents (not available for businesses or multi-family units). For questions, contact Public Works at 801‑568‑2999.

Thanksgiving Impacts

City Hall will be closed for Thanksgiving on November 28 and 29. Please note that all waste and recycling services will be delayed by one day following the holiday. Thank you for your understanding!
