A Message from District 4 Representative Marci Houseman

A message from District 4 Council Member Marci Houseman

Dear District 4 Residents,

After seven years on the Sandy City Council, I have made the difficult decision to resign my District 4 seat, effective January 3, 2027.

My reason for resigning is bittersweet. Bitter, because serving my fellow Sandy residents has been one of the great honors of my life. Sweet, because it is a direct result of the growth of my business and the increasing demands of entrepreneurship on my time and attention.

I will serve fully through January 3, including as Council Chair, so nothing changes for the Council's work before that date.

So what happens next?

Over the next two weeks, the Council will receive and evaluate applications for the role.

Applications are open beginning Thursday, November 5 and close Friday, November 20. If you have ever thought about serving, I hope you will consider applying, or encourage a neighbor who would represent District 4 well.

To apply, you must be a District 4 resident who is registered to vote and has lived in Sandy for at least 12 months. You can apply in person at the City Recorder’s office, which is Suite 311 at Sandy City Hall. The district map, application forms, and full process are available on the city website.

All qualified applicants will be interviewed in a public meeting on Tuesday, December 1, and the Council will vote that same evening. This process is in accordance with state law.

The person who is appointed to the role will begin their appointment on January 4, 2027, and will serve out the remainder of the term; the seat will then be on the 2027 election ballot.

Thank you, again, for the confidence and trust you have placed in me.
