Hello Sandy Residents, Did you know that “April” comes from the Latin word aperire which means “to open”, symbolizing spring blooms? We’re excited to see what will bloom this month in our wonderful City. In this month’s newsletter, we invite Sandy’s future young leaders to apply for our Sandy Youth Council’s next program year, share the Council’s shared vision on their budget priorities for the 2026-27 fiscal year Sandy City Budget, and updates from the joint City Council and Planning Commission meeting on the Sandy land development code re-write process. As always, we’re grateful for the opportunity to serve and thank you for staying informed and involved! We hope to see you at our April City Council Meetings — April 7, 21, and 38— all starting at 5:15 P.M. in the City Council Chambers and online via Zoom. In the meantime, we invite you to check out our full April Newsletter and wish you a fresh-air and warm sunshine filled April. With gratitude, Your Sandy City Council |

We will conduct our annual emergency communications test on April 16 at 10 a.m. As part of the test, you may receive emergency alerts by text message, robocall, email, and social media while the city tests its notification systems. If you have not yet signed up for Sandy City’s emergency alerts, please visit sandy.utah.gov/myalerts to register. If you already have an account, take a moment to log in and make sure your contact information is up to date. In the event of a real emergency, this system will be the city’s primary way of delivering important information to you and your household. Our goal is to ensure every resident is signed up to receive these alerts so you can stay informed during emergencies. |

Old medications sitting in your medicine cabinet may not seem like a concern, but keeping unused prescriptions can create real risks. Medications can expire, lose effectiveness, or break down in ways that may cause harmful side effects. They can also be accidentally taken by children or pets, mistaken for current prescriptions, or misused by others. Safely disposing of unused medications is a simple step that helps protect your family and our community. Residents can drop off unused or expired medications at the Sandy Police Department Drug Take Back event on April 25 from 10 AM to 2 PM, or year-round in the secure drop box located in the Sandy Police Department lobby. |
