Sandy Community & Recreation Center

Sandy City is moving forward with plans to replace the aging Alta Canyon Sports Center with a modern, sustainable recreation center designed to serve the community for decades to come. The project includes a gymnasium, field house, indoor walking track, expanded wellness spaces, and preserves the beloved outdoor pool. Thanks to strong public support and contributions from the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation and Salt Lake County’s TRCC grant program for helping to fund the construction of the new facility.

Alta Canyon Sports Center Final Days Events:

• AUG. 13 – Splash Bash Send-Off: Free swimming and fun from 12–8 p.m.
• AUG. 16 – Final Day of Operations at Alta Canyon

Sandy Balloon Festival

Don’t miss one of Sandy’s most beloved summer traditions! The 2025 Hot Air Balloon Festival returns August 8–9 at Storm Mountain Park with early-morning launches and an unforgettable Saturday night celebration. Events are free and open to the public. The Sandy Amphitheater 2025 Season is in Full Swing

The 2025 season is packed with exciting performances, and many shows are nearly sold out. If you’re planning to attend, don’t wait to get your tickets. Be sure to purchase only through the official Sandy Amphitheater website at sandyamp.com to avoid third-party scams. While you're there, explore venue details and join the presale email list so you don’t miss announcements for the 2026 season.

1300 East Construction Update

Road improvements on 1300 East are underway, with concrete work currently in progress. Paving operations are scheduled to begin in September, and the project is expected to be completed by the end of September. A message board will remain in place to notify drivers of ongoing activity. Thank you for your continued patience during this project.

Night Out Against Crime

The National Night Out Against Crime Fair, hosted by the Sandy City Police Department, is scheduled for Monday, August 4 (in conjunction with Food Truck Night). The event features free swag, K9 demonstrations, McGruff the Crime Dog, and an interactive opportunity to explore police vehicles and engage with officers

First Responders & Autism Community Food and Fun Night

Families and individuals in the autism community are invited to join us for an evening of connection and fun with local first responders. This free event takes place on Monday, August 19, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at Sandy City Hall and includes dinner, activities, and the opportunity to build positive relationships in a welcoming environment. All ages are invited.

Find Food and Fresh Produce in Sandy

Food resources are available for Sandy residents facing hunger. Visit local pantries like Entrada Adult High School, Acre Woods Mobile Pantry, and The Sandy Club for free meals and groceries. Hale Cultural Celebration

Join us at the Sandy Amphitheater Plaza for the Hale Cultural Celebration series every Sunday in August. These free performances highlight music, dance, and traditions from around the world:

• August 11 – Hālau Kū Pono I Kamalani (Hawaiian dance)
• August 18 – Ballet Folklórico ECK Juvenil (Mexican folk dance)
