Sandy Community & Recreation CenterSandy City is moving forward with plans to replace the aging Alta Canyon Sports Center with a modern, sustainable recreation center designed to serve the community for decades to come. The project includes a gymnasium, field house, indoor walking track, expanded wellness spaces, and preserves the beloved outdoor pool. Thanks to strong public support and contributions from the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation and Salt Lake County’s TRCC grant program for helping to fund the construction of the new facility. Sandy Balloon FestivalDon’t miss one of Sandy’s most beloved summer traditions! The 2025 Hot Air Balloon Festival returns August 8–9 at Storm Mountain Park with early-morning launches and an unforgettable Saturday night celebration. Events are free and open to the public. 1300 East Construction UpdateRoad improvements on 1300 East are underway, with concrete work currently in progress. Paving operations are scheduled to begin in September, and the project is expected to be completed by the end of September. A message board will remain in place to notify drivers of ongoing activity. Night Out Against CrimeThe National Night Out Against Crime Fair, hosted by the Sandy City Police Department, is scheduled for Monday, August 4 (in conjunction with Food Truck Night). The event features free swag, K9 demonstrations, McGruff the Crime Dog, and an interactive opportunity to explore police vehicles and engage with officers |

First Responders & Autism Community Food and Fun NightFamilies and individuals in the autism community are invited to join us for an evening of connection and fun with local first responders. This free event takes place on Monday, August 19, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at Sandy City Hall and includes dinner, activities, and the opportunity to build positive relationships in a welcoming environment. All ages are invited. |
