Message from Mayor Zoltanski

Dear Sandy business leaders,

Thank you for doing business in Sandy City. Earlier this year we put together an Economic Development Stakeholder Panel to get input and feedback from our business community. I'm sending this year-end report and think you'll be pleased to see meaningful progress in city resources designed to support Sandy businesses. These are a direct result of feedback from this panel.

This year, we have a new Economic Development Director Kasey Dunlavy, Deputy Director Rob Sant, and new staff as well as Katie Johnson who is spotlighting our small businesses. You can reach them at (801) 568-7105 or visit sandy.utah.gov/economicdevelopment. AIso, I am also always interested in your business ideas, so please reach out to me directly via email to mayor@ sandy.utah.gov.

I look forward to our continued partnerships in the New Year as we work to improve life for our residents and businesses in Sandy!

Yours in Service,

Create Opportunities to Influence Local Growth

  • Sandy City’s comprehensive update to the General Plan has been funded and is underway. Over the coming months, we will be reaching out to the community for input and opportunities for involvement. (SandyPaceofProgress.org)
  • The General Plan includes a mix of specific station and small area plans. Direct input and involvement from the business community on these subcommittees will be imperative to the successful completion of the overall General Plan.
  • Converted business licensing and building permits to an online portal, which has created an opportunity for more expedient license and permit issuance and also offers online project tracking capabilities.
  • Close involvement with public safety decisions like the Firefighter Stakeholder Slow Down Sandy campaign and community events.

Improve City-Business Communication

  • Increased current information and relevant information sharing on all of our communication channels.
  • Created an Economic Development social media presence to feature business spotlights and share key resources.
  • Increased our presence and participation with the South Valley Chamber.
  • Recognized businesses in our One Sandy Awards as well as call for nominations at sandy.utah.gov/awards.

Launch Website Tailored for Sandy Businesses

  • Economic Development team is conducting weekly small business spotlights, which are featured on our social media and economic development website.
  • Currently in phase I of creating a business development program: Sandy Business Connect, a one-stop shop for all things Sandy business:

- Business Resources

- Business Highlights

- Engagement/Partnership Opportunities

- Business Events/Networking Opportunities
